Cold foam is everywhere right now, and if you've been eyeing it off on your feed or ordering it at cafés, you'll be pleased to know you can easily recreate it at home with just a few ingredients.
No fancy equipment, no barista skills. Just four ingredients, a milk frother and about three minutes of your time.
What Is Cold Foam?
Cold foam is a lightly sweetened, airy cream that sits on top of cold coffee drinks; most commonly cold brew. Unlike steamed milk foam, it's made cold, which gives it a lighter, silkier texture that floats nicely on the surface and slowly folds into your drink as you sip.
What You'll Need
- 200ml milk
- 300ml full cream
- 100g brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- A wand-style milk frother or an electric whisk if you're scaling up the recipe
- A glass or jar

How to make it
- Add the cream, milk, brown sugar and vanilla extract to a glass or jar.
- Stir gently to begin dissolving the sugar.
- Froth with a wand-style milk frother until the mixture thickens and becomes light and airy, for about 60–90 seconds depending on the power of your frother.
- Pour your cold brew or iced coffee of choice into a separate glass over ice.
- Spoon or pour the cold foam generously over the top.
- Sip through the foam and enjoy as it slowly folds into your coffee.

A few tips for the best cold foam
- Full cream is your go-to for best results; it's what gives the foam its structure and silky texture. Lower fat milk alone won't hold the same consistency.
- Keep an eye on the froth. You're aiming for light and airy, not whipped cream. Stop when it holds its shape but still pours easily over your coffee.
- Brown sugar adds a subtle caramel warmth that pairs beautifully with coffee; but adjust the amount to suit your taste.
